Finding your bridal look: the four thn archetypes
Maybe you’ve saved soft waves, a braid with movement and lots of texture, and a sleek updo. You love something about each one. But when you look at them together, it’s still hard to explain what you want for your wedding day.
I like to start there, looking through those images with you. What catches your eye? What feels familiar? How do you hope to feel when you see yourself in the mirror on your wedding day?
I use archetypes to bring together the feelings, shapes, and details you’re drawn to. They help us find the words for what you love.
At the hair narrative, I explore these questions through four bridal archetypes: the dreamer, the free spirit, the author, and the timeless.
Each one gives us a different world to explore.
The archetype gives us a starting point. Your interpretation makes it personal.
the dreamer · I want my look to express what I feel
the dreamer brings together emotion, tenderness, and a little sense of wonder.
Maybe you’re drawn to the way a fabric moves, a delicate accessory, or hair that falls softly around your face. I want to understand what you love about those details and how they make you feel.
For your hair, we might explore soft curves, gentle movement, or delicate braids.
The question I’d begin with is: How do you want to feel when you see yourself?
the free spirit · I want to follow my own nature
the free spirit brings together freedom, nature, and instinct.
I think about how you want to move through your day and what feels natural to you. You might love loose shapes, interesting textures, or a hairstyle that keeps some of your hair’s own movement.
We might explore braids, waves, or an updo that feels relaxed, while giving it the support it needs.
The question is: What helps you feel free and at ease?
the author · I want to write my own story
the author brings together imagination, individuality, and a personal touch.
Maybe it’s an unexpected combination, a shape you keep coming back to, or a detail with a story you want to carry with you.
For your hair, we might explore a braid that follows an unusual path, a shape that sits to one side, or an accessory that becomes part of the hairstyle itself.
I want to understand why each choice matters to you.
The question is: What detail feels especially yours?
the timeless · I want to recognize myself, now and when I look back
the timeless brings together authenticity, quiet confidence, and lasting elegance.
Maybe you’re drawn to a balanced shape, clean lines, or a finish that helps you feel like yourself. I’m interested in the choices you keep loving as time goes by.
We might explore a neatly shaped updo, how much volume feels right, and details that work beautifully with everything you’re wearing.
The question is: What do you want to recognize about yourself when you look back at your photos?
bringing it together
You may see yourself in more than one archetype. That gives us something to explore together.
From there, I’ll consider your hair’s texture and length, your features, your dress, your accessories, and the setting of your wedding. At your trial, we’ll explore how those details work together and what feels right to you.
That’s where your interpretation begins to take shape.
Choose three images you love. Under each one, write what catches your eye.
Then finish this sentence:
“On my wedding day, I want to feel…”
Bring your images and your words to your trial. We’ll start from there.
See you in the next story.
